A: While it does take some careful bending, the instructions give concise directions and the aluminum
material is easily formed. Review the installation details on the Instruction Page. Our feedback

A: Most of the shields are designed to fit a particular application. However, some of the shields will fit a
wide variety of starters because they are designed around a starter type (like Denso) and will fit most
any starter based on that type design. We try to list the applications we are aware of that each design
fits, but if there are questions feel free to email us at [email protected].
A:We are constantly looking for new patterns to develop. Feel free to email us at [email protected]
with your request and we will evaluate the possibility of a new shield pattern.
A:Aluminum is a material that is easily modified. The natural shape that
results from forming the shield around the starter makes it extremely rigid, however the edges can be
trimmed or tweaked to fit custom layouts. Obviously cutting large holes or reducing the shield area
an excessive amount will impact how effective the shield is.
A:We are not fans of using insulation on our shields. Experience has shown us that the insulation holds
the heat in the starter and limits its ability to dissipate. A thinner, non-insulated member performs like
a radiator and when combined with an air gap, helps remove heat from these components. This reduces any internal temperature, while also acting like a shield and reflecting any external heat.
A:We are confident that, after reviewing our simple instructions, you could form a shield to the proper
shape. However, if you prefer to order a shield pre-bent, you can send a special request to
[email protected] and ask for a special order. EZ Shields will form the shield for you for a minimal
$10 extra charge.
A:Our products can be found on EBay. Search for the EZ Shields part number (Example EZ-C01 for
the Classic Chevy shield) or do a search for “starter heat shields” and our products will be in the
listing. Please let us know if you have any trouble finding our parts.
A:Stainless steel is a poor choice of materials for these shields. It is more difficult to form to the proper
shape and does not offer any advantages in shielding or heat transfer properties. Additionally, it is
more expensive, which is not a good value for our customers.
A:It is an ongoing process for us. We get continual feedback from our customers and use that to refine
patterns. We love getting feedback. Feel free to email us at with comments or suggestions.
A:Check out the Data Sheets and Product Views on the Starter Products page. It has a variety of pics showing our products installed. If you need a certain pic or view…..send us an email at
[email protected].
A:Our experience is that this style fits tightly to the starter allowing only a minimal air gap.
This minimized air gap gets filled with oil and debris over a short time, which makes the wrap act like a blanket. As the engine block transfers heat to the starter, it cannot dissipate, and the starter is hotter than if there were no shield at all. We are not fans.
